OUTthere Rural Victorian Youth Council for Sexual Diversity

September 2009

The OUTthere Rural Victorian Youth Council for Sexual Diversity aims to raise awareness, advocate and provide information and resources to communities, youth services, schools and government departments about issues facing Same Sex Attracted youth in rural Victoria.

OUTthere is an initiative of the WayOut, Rural Victorian Youth and Sexual Diversity Project and is currently funded by the Myer Foundation.

Who are we?

We are GLBTIQ young people from different rural and regional towns across Victoria including Wodonga, Warrnambool, Wangaratta, Shepparton, Morwell, Macedon Ranges, Geelong, Drysdale, Colac, Bendigo and Ballarat.

What do we do?

Currently we have an survey about peoples experiences of homophobia in rural Victorian Schools, which can be completed online. We are also writing a proposal with recommendations about safe and inclusive youth events.
